I have no belief in a divine creator. That’s all, a pure lack of faith, plain and simple. What’s funny is that sometimes it puts me at odds with other anti-God types who really, reeallly believe in Atheism. For them Atheism is a mission, a daily battle against God and the oppressive ways of his followers. They see it as crusade, not merely against the influence of religion on personal freedoms, but against religion in all its forms. They denigrate anyone with a faith, mock and sneer at those who express a divine belief, throw slogans around and bitch about how persecuted they feel. That’s not exactly Atheism. That’s a lot like fanaticism.

The particular geology of the East African Rift system is also what made Olorgesailie a point of interest to anyone over the last million years… a happy place for Homo erectus to gather and live high…gazelles to throw rocks at, floating delicacies of rotting carcasses bobbing down river and refrigerator-size watermelons falling from trees to tumble up their doorsteps.
